Wild Earth Pinot Noir 2022 is a refined, site‑driven red from Wild Earth Wines, a boutique family‑run winery in Central Otago, New Zealand, celebrated for producing expressive cool‑climate wines with bright fruit purity and structural balance. Wild Earth sources fruit from key subregions like Pisa, Bendigo, Gibbston and Bannockburn, hand‑harvesting at optimal ripeness before vinification with a mix of whole‑bunch fermentations and ageing in fine‑grain French oak to build complexity without overshadowing the fruit. The winery’s roster, from Pinot Noir and Rosé to Chardonnay and Riesling, reflects its commitment to terroir and freshness under the guidance of acclaimed winemaker Jen Parr. The 2022 Pinot Noir displays a deep garnet colour with intriguing aromas of cherry, black currant, plum, cedar, sage, liquorice and wild thyme, leading into a focused palate layered with ripe red fruit, dried herbs and distinctive earthy nuances. Silky fine tannins and vibrant fruit give the wine excellent structure and length, while subtle oak integration adds spice and finesse. Approachable now yet built for ageing, it’s drinking beautifully but also promises to continue evolving for many years. This Central Otago Pinot pairs superbly with roasted lamb, duck, game birds, mushroom‑based dishes or rich, herbed sauces, and benefits from decanting to allow its aromas and layers to open fully. Why we love this wine? Any wine by Jen Parr is amazing, but we love the complexity and silky tannins on this Pinot!
