Rock Ferry Rosé Brut 2016 is a refined, vintage Brut Rosé sparkling wine from Rock Ferry Wines, a certified organic producer with vineyards in Central Otago and Marlborough, New Zealand. The estate’s Central Otago site, Trig Hill Vineyard on the Bendigo Hills, provides Pinot Noir fruit that gives structure and depth, while Marlborough vineyards such as The Corners, Orchard, and Brookby Springs contribute balance, freshness, and vibrant aromatics. All vineyards are organically farmed, reflecting the estate’s philosophy of minimal intervention and strong vineyard expression. The 2016 vintage was hand‑harvested and whole‑bunch pressed, then fermented partly in seasoned oak and stainless steel before being tirage‑bottled and matured for over three years on lees using the traditional method, resulting in fine, persistent mousse and layered complexity. The wine shows a delicate pale pink hue with lifted aromatics of wild berry, spice, smoke, and biscuit, and a complex palate of red berry, toast, and subtle creaminess from lees ageing, finishing dry, long, and texturally elegant. This Rosé pairs beautifully with oysters, shellfish, smoked salmon, grilled prawns, fresh salads, and soft cheeses, or can be enjoyed on its own as a celebratory aperitif. The inclusion of Marlborough fruit gives additional brightness and tension, complementing the richness and depth from Central Otago grapes, making it a balanced and versatile sparkling wine. Why we love this wine? We love the Pinot aromas and flavours of wild berry and spice combined with a dry brioche finish! Especially good with oysters and mignonette sauce!
