Rock Ferry Rosé 2023 (often labelled Orchard Vineyard Pinot Rosé) is a dry, vibrant rosé from Rock Ferry Wines, an organic, family-owned winery with certified organic vineyards in Marlborough (including the Orchard Vineyard and The Corners Vineyard) as well as in Central Otago, New Zealand. The estate was founded by Tom Hutchison and Fiona Harvey, and makes wines that express both varietal purity and site character with careful organic viticulture and thoughtful winemaking. The 2023 rosé is crafted predominantly from Pinot Noir (about 81 %), with supporting portions of Pinot Blanc (9 %) and Pinot Gris (10 %) picked, gently pressed and cool-fermented in stainless steel, then matured on light lees for around six months to build texture and roundness before bottling. In the glass it shows a pale salmon hue with lifted aromatics of white blossoms, wild berries, red apple and raspberry, followed by a lively, juicy palate layered with red-berry and rock melon character, crisp acidity and a refreshing, gently spiced finish. This rosé is dry, bright and precise, reflecting both Marlborough’s cool-climate fruit intensity and Rock Ferry’s organic approach. This versatile rosé pairs beautifully with fresh salads, seafood, grilled prawns, smoked salmon, charcuterie or light Asian-inspired dishes, and is equally enjoyable on its own as a chilled aperitif or summer wine. Why we love this wine? the aromatics on this wine is cheerful and moorish!
