The Marlborist was founded by a team of experienced viticulturists and winemakers with backgrounds at leading New Zealand houses, and it sources fruit from exceptional sites across Marlborough’s Southern Valleys, Rapaura, Renwick and Awatere Valley to make wines with both vibrancy and structure. The 2024 Alpine Rift Sauvignon Blanc is an elegant interpretation of classic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, showing enticing aromatics of nectarine, papaya and honeydew melon with hints of mandarin and jalapeño, balanced by a ripe, richly textured palate and a crisp, citrus-driven finish. Fruit was harvested early in the cool mornings from naturally low-yielding vines, gently pressed and fermented to dryness with a combination of stainless steel and old French oak puncheons using both cultured and indigenous wild yeasts, with lees contact adding subtle complexity. This Sauvignon Blanc pairs beautifully with fresh seafood, oysters, grilled fish, salads, Asian-inspired dishes or light goat cheese, and also works wonderfully as a bright, refreshing aperitif.
