$ 19.51

Mullineux Kloof Street Rouge 2022 comes from Mullineux & Leeu Family Wines, the highly regarded South African producer founded by winemaking couple Chris and Andrea Mullineux in 2007, with a philosophy rooted in sustainable farming, minimal intervention and authentic expression of terroir in the Swartland region of the Western Cape. The estate has garnered wide international acclaim including multiple Platter’s South African Wine Guide Winery of the Year titles, over fifty 5-star ratings, and individual recognition for Andrea as International Winemaker of the Year. Adding to the winery’s recent global recognition, Mullineux & Leeu Family Wines was named “World’s Best Rising Star” at the prestigious 2025 Golden Vines Awards, an international event sometimes referred to as the “Oscars of Wine,” highlighting excellence in fine wine producers worldwide. This accolade affirms the winery’s growing reputation on the global stage and underscores the quality of wines like the Kloof Street Rouge. The Swartland region, north of Cape Town, is known for its dryland viticulture on ancient granite, shale, and schist soils that give wines a distinctive mineral and aromatic intensity; it’s also central to South Africa’s modern quality movement. The wine itself is a medium-bodied red blend primarily of Syrah with Grenache Noir, Cinsault and Tinta Barocca sourced from six sustainably farmed parcels with vine ages up to 48 years. It typically shows juicy dark berry and spice aromas, balanced acidity and fine tannins with a hint of white pepper and fresh granitic finish, making it versatile with food or enjoyable on its own. Critics have praised it as a high-quality, great value red, with 93 points from Tim Atkin MW (South Africa Report) and strong showings from James Suckling and Vinous.
