Kaapzicht Skemerlig Cabernet Sauvignon‑2020 is a refined, terroir-driven expression of 100 % Cabernet Sauvignon from Kaapzicht Estate, a longstanding family-run winery in the Bottelary Hills of Stellenbosch, South Africa, where weathered granite soils and a cooler north-west slope help produce grapes with intense flavour and elegant structure. This 2020 vintage is hand-harvested and fermented dry on skins with cultured biodynamic yeast, then gently pressed and aged for about 18 months in a blend of new, second-fill and older French oak barrels to build complexity without overwhelming the fruit. Its alcohol sits near 14.9 % ABV. On the nose it displays blackcurrant and graphite with hints of dusty herbs, while the palate delivers rich dark fruit, elegant perfumed character and finely grained tannins that give tension and grip through a long, structured finish. This Cabernet Sauvignon is classic yet expressive, with age-worthy balance and a recommended cellaring window of 7–10 years from vintage. It pairs beautifully with grilled and roasted red meats, lamb, hearty stews or rich sauces, and also complements mature cheeses and rustic fare when decanted to open up its layered aromatics. Why we love this wine? Rich dark and perfumed, we can’t get enough of this Cab!
