The Problem Using a Reliance Aqua-Tainer is a simple way to make a portable grey water tank in a campervan conversion, because they are cheap, readily available, and portable (useful to carry where it can be disposed). That’s what we did in our first Ford Transit campervan conversion, and it’s been working well for several years living full-time in our van. The problem is that Aqua-Tainer covers have proprietary threads, so no existing fitting will fit in the spigot threaded hole… The Solution We designed a fitting (adapter) that allows to install a garden hose quick-coupler into an Aqua-Tainer, here is our setup: Aqua-Tainer We use 4 gallon Aqua-Tainer, but 7 gallon works too. Specifications Female Threads: 3/4″ GHT (Garden Hose Threads). Male Threads: Reliance proprietary threads. Manufacturing: 3D Printed with Polycarbonate. Included: Adapter and rubber washer. Instructions Gently finger-tighten (do not use tools). Do not use Teflon tape. This will result in overtightening, and the fitting will crack. Do not use Loctite or any type of sealant. Each adapter is individually 3D printed, takes over 30 minutes to complete, and requires manual labor. This is not a mass-produced product. This is a crafted, hand-made product. Low Volume. We created this product for our own needs, to make a single unit. There is no way for us to ramp up the production and lower the price, unless we take it to injection molding manufacturing but that’s a whole another level we’re not considering at the moment.
